About

I am a senior Spanish and Economic Development double major with a minor in Cross-Cultural Ministries at Messiah College in Mechanicsburg, PA.  I enjoy reading, writing, and spending time with my family (when I am not traveling around the world)!  In my free time, I also enjoy crafting and outdoor activities.  During this semester in Chile, I have several goals that I am hoping to accomplish to be able to apply what I learn here in a holistic way:

Personally…

  • …I expect to develop my relational skills among people of another culture, as well intentionally building interpersonal relationships with them. I am also hoping to be able to focus on myself as an individual in spiritual and emotional aspects of my life.  More specifically, spiritually I hope to grow closer to God and develop a deeper bond with Him during this time

Professionally…

  • …I am hoping to be able to continue to develop my skills within the Spanish language and come out of this experience with fluency in the language.  I also am hoping to expand my knowledge on economic development by looking at it through the lens of Latin America.  Ultimately, I hope to be able to combine both of these goals into a transferable experience for my future goals of working in economic development with Latin Americans

Academically…

  • …I am hoping to establish fluency and proficiency in a Latin American dialect of Spanish to use in my future career.  I also hope to further develop time management skills in my academics, as time tends to run different in other countries.  I hope that my experience will allow me to better understand Spanish and Economic Development in a real-world context

In the area of Community Engagement…

  • …I hope to be able to network with Chileans in order to grow my understanding of and interaction within the global community.  Also, I hope that my cultural immersion will allow me to provide a new and different perspective within my local community
